Task 1) D)
Game Of Thrones - characters
In the opening scene the three characters Ser Waymar, Will and Gared.
Will
Wants to run away from the thing in the woods that wants to kill all three of them. Will wants to survive  however Ser Waymar doesn't let that happen due to his title and the fact that he has to be brave enough to face anything that get in his way. Because of that Will gets dragged with Ser Waymar going in the woods to find the thing that making everyone suffer in the village.
Gared
Gared as well as Will wants to get away from the forest and get back to the 'Wall' where they will all be safe. Ser Waymar makes a jokes out of his suggestion by asking him if he is 'scared of the dead' so makes them go back in the woods. At the end of it he gets killed because of Ser Waymar's mistake.
Ser Waymar
Ser Waymar does not seem like he cares about what everyone else wants but only what he wants and how he is going to get it. He wants to find the dead bodies but unsuccessfully he does not find them. At the end he dies and does get what he wants apart form making Will and Gared to stay.

Over all Will, Gared and Ser Waymar are all stuck together and end up having a conflict because they all want to succeed at different things.

The Walking Dead/Game Of Thrones
Style:
Game Of Thrones (Fantasy, political strategy, epic fantasy):
''...wearing heavy furs. The wind whips through their long hair'' by having the characters wear a certain clothing it shows the medieval times the script is written in as well as the atmosphere and setting they are in. They own ''heavy furs'' which suggests they are put in an extreme weather where they have to survive by killing animals to make warm fur. This already shows how the show is not set in times we live in because they do not have the luxuries we have now. The style of writing is descriptive with how the 'wind whips through their long hair' the description of the sound used for the wind sets a scene as well as males having 'long hair' to make them look stereotypically masculine with higher class.

The Walking Dead (horror, drama):
''deputy get out of the car'' This already shows that the Walking dead script is not as detailed as Game of Thrones. they don't describe what he wears or what car it is although, the reader can guess a police car. We can tell that its set nowadays because of the 'trash laying everywhere' and only now you would find rubbish laying around. Also they use police cars in the script and not horses like Game Of Thrones so the whole set differs from one another.

Content:
Game of thrones: At the start we are introduced to the setting in the forest where we meet Will who finds dead bodies laying in the snow on the ground. He gets back on his horse to meet  Gared and Ser Waymar to confirm that the bodies are dead. Gared then offers to go back to where they came from suggesting he is getting scared so Ser Waymar questions him if he 'the dead frighten him' and laughs at him. Next they decide to go back to the forest to see the dead bodies however they are not there anymore so Will gets confused by whats happened.

Walking Dead: We get introduced to a police officer, Rick, who gets out the car at a petrol station in the middle on nowhere. He looks around the other cars that are parked there with dead bodies laying there and rubbish all over the ground. He sees the sign of 'no gas' and returns to his car where he meets a little girl who turns around and has 'missing parts' of her cheek. After the opening credits we are taken to a flashback of Rick and another officer in a police car talking about the 'difference between men and women' while waiting to get called for a job.
Narrative structure:
Game Of Thrones:
The structure it is set in is easy for a viewer to follow as it starts off with the introduction of the characters and then it goes on to them tracking someone in the woods. So the script is very straight forward with the original beginning middle and end and that makes Game Of Thrones very linear. The writers have done this because its simple for the audience to follow and because it is in medieval times it helps them understand and engage with the story more instead of the viewer to lose the plot.

The Walking Dead:
The structure with this show is a bit more confusing to follow because it starts of with present time of the police officer at the gas station with the little zombie girl. After the credit sequence it changes to a flashback of the same police officer, Ricky, and another one in a police car. This could confuse the audience however it makes it more interesting for them to watch because it is like they have only been given a little bit of the story. The audience would want to know who the little girl is from the start.

Genre:
The Walking Dead is a Horror, Drama. At the start when we meet the little zombie girl we see "missing parts of her cheek." which gives an idea of what is to come in the rest of the episode. This is iconography of horror as the missing part of her body is not nice to look at and also when she 'turns' her body is sudden and that would come as a shock to the audience.
Game Of Thrones is a Fantasy, Crime. They start of with 'bodies of the fallen dead' from the first line which implies that the there is loads of bodies not one and they are 'frozen on the ground'. That gives a hint of fantasy because you can't get dead bodies lying on the ground for that long to freeze without anyone helping and they can't freeze that quickly. The bodies are the iconography of crime because there would be murder involved for that many bodies to die at the same time.

Target Audience: Age rating for the walking dead is a 15 (season 1) which limits the audience who are able to watch it because only some teenagers and adults can view it. Game of thrones is an 18 (season 1 onwards) that limits the audience as well as only adults are able to watch the TV show. Both shows show blood and dead bodies which is more likely to appeal to the male audience although, there are female characters in both shows and that could engage the female audience.

Gossip Girl/ Game of Thrones differences Notes
Style: Gossip Girl is s script made into a TV Show
Content: The content in the script is a little different to the first episode as the first part of the episode is in a different part in the script. They have also cut out and changed a few scenes. The script is much more simple and easy to follow rather than the Game of Thrones script which is more detail. Gossip Girl script does not explain the set in depth like Game of Thrones.
Narrative Structure: The structure has been done cleverly for the audience to be engaged straight away because they do not give much away about the main character. The audience would also be left with questions about what has happened to the characters in the past which makes them want to watch more. This is similar to what Game of Thrones has done with their pilot as the viewers would want to know more about what will happen to the characters because they are left clueless.
Genre: Drama, Romance
Target Audience: Gossip Girl is a 15 because of the language and sexual content. This does not make the TV Show have  wide range of audience because not everyone is able to watch it.

Feedback
Need to make sure the story at the start and end is interesting put something dramatic in there to keep the audience entertained. Read the script and check for any mistakes.

SCRIPT DRAFT
Review
Make sure that my grammar is correct throughout. The dialogue reveals things in the plot that is not necessary  so I could change it into actions instead. The story needs to make sense ''shoot her already'' but they need her. Look over the script and make sure there is enough detail for the beginning of each scene and that the dialogue is relevant and fits with the story.

Changes I made
I changed the dialogue that did not make sense about the shooting. I also corrected for of my spelling, commas and full stops.

Roles
Art department: The art department requires to have excellent communication and organisational skills  and most importantly show interest in design. I would say that I can work in a team as we were previously put in groups for shooting and communicating and working with everyone was enjoyable. I can be very organised and getting everything that is needed for shooting. That is exactly what I did when we were filming and we had to get props in. I find that design can be fun and creative aseptically when it comes to make-up, costumes and if any props are needed on set.
Director: To be a director commitment, passion, collaborating and decision making with others on set well are key skills. When we worked as a group we all had a of important decisions that we had to make that effected all the work we did but I would say I handled it well enough to be able to do it again.
